Summary

Hi, I am Mila an Information Systems student @ NUS.

Introduction

During my national service I decided to take my personal time to learn more of my future career and of my strengths. I was fortunate to be given the opportunity to start my University early under the NUS Ibloc's program. Being armed with a foundation of writing scripts, I decided to further study as well, thus I took online courses from Universities such as Harvard, Michigan, Edinburgh, Columbia and platforms such as IBM, deeplearning AI to pick up skills such as data analysis, computer vision, deep learning, machine learning, finance and marketing. This enabled me to gain my first internship in data analytics with Combine Services, an accounting firm. My resume can be found here

Hobbies

I enjoy spending my free time in the outdoors, rock climbing and reading. On a more career oriented topic I enjoy going for talks of the future of technology, be it web3 or prediction models.

Career

There are many growth areas I am interested in, such as E-commerce. I am appreciative of the opportunity provided to me by Shopee to understand the tech operations of a large scale platform. I also like web design. I was able to comprehend how CSS, HTML, bootstrap, and Javascript interacted during the setup of this website. I got the website's domain name (tayjiakangmila.com) and figured out how to set up the DNS.

Seeing as I hope to pursue a career in technology I hope to gain experience in social media as well. On that front, I find understanding user behavior and how it affects how we live and think to be very intriguing. Social media is here to stay, so it will be intriguing to see which platforms are able to retain users.

A mini project I did visualising the job vacancies in Singapore

A sample using R Markdown

  • Data was used from Singapore's public data
  • I used the ggplot library to generate the graphs
  • Some simple analysis was done and I hope to do more

Articles I wrote about my takeaways throughout my internships.
